Dawa (2005 - 2006)

Dawa

Dawa is from Bhutan, where he earned his BA Honours in English.

He writes that since his return from Canada, he has been given extensive responsibilities at Bhutan Broadcast Services (BBS) TV in making programs both in his national language and in English. He has developed live talk shows on TV on different issues, which are largely controversial in nature. His manager asked him not to work for the radio department since he has so many responsibilities in TV programming.

He "is mostly involved in covering current issues. Before attending the Sauvé Program he was only covering one program on TV" and now, following his time as a Scholar, he "has to produce three programs a week, which are all live."

At the 1st Bhutanese Annual Media Award, in May 2009, Dawa, who hosts live debates and panel discussions on BBS TV, received the best anchor award.

“Leaders must dream of changing the world.

They must have an inspired vision of the changes they want to make and be prepared to consecrate all
their energy to that purpose. A capacity to communicate their objectives is indispensable to sustain
the enthusiasm of their collaborators and their perseverance in action.”
— The Right Honourable Jeanne Sauvé, Opening Speech to the National Conference for Young Leaders, June 2-8, 1991
